I [don’t] Really Love You

I [don’t] Really Love You

(Guest Post by Molly Hilbert) I don’t think I’m all that bad at this whole wife thing. At least, I’m a pretty good wife when it comes to those things that have stereo-typically been assigned as “wifely duties.” I realize that not every woman enjoys cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, and hosting, but these are just some of my favorite things to spend my time doing. I love knowing that my creation in the kitchen or my freshly cleaned apartment are able to benefit someone else, whether that be my husband or someone we have invited into our home. I love being married. And I really, really love my husband. I tell him that I love him every day and I mean it, or at least I think I do, every time that I say it. I admit, though, that I have had a thought, a hesitation, that has pestered my heart and mind these past few months: I don’t really love him.

That Non-Mushy-Man Totally Surprised Me!

That Non-Mushy-Man Totally Surprised Me!

Remember when I told you my favorite February memory? That February, before we were married, when LeRoy was working hard to win my heart and sent me gifts fourteen days in a row? (Single men typically have more money and more incentive for romance, just sayin’.) Remember that he surprised me by taking me on a “Deep South” tour? And remember when I said that was the most “mushiness” my man ever showed me? He tells people all the time that he used up all his romance factor in those two weeks. This week, that non-mushy-man completely surprised me, again!

Need Some Valentine’s Day Heart Prep?

Need Some Valentine’s Day Heart Prep?

Tomorrow is the day. The stores have been a sea of cupid’s hearts, pinks, reds, and mushiness for weeks now. We’ve had to wade our way through aisles of “romantic” odds and ends just to buy groceries. But tomorrow should bring all of that to a conclusion. Romantic moments will be spent. Flowers will be sent. Lovers will exchange the stuff they bought in the grocery aisle. And one more Valentine’s Day will be in the books. But for some, Valentine’s Day can be one of the most dreaded days of the year. Are you ready for the day, or do you need to do some heart preparation?

Offering Online Marriage Help?

Offering Online Marriage Help?

After Fierce Women was released, I started getting requests for marriage advice through social media, emails to this website, or women I’d meet at conferences. Every story I receive carries a depth of pain and confusion that hits me hard. Most reach out with the desire to find answers. Many of your stories bring tears to my eyes and I want to sit down and spend time with each of you, telling you how gracious God is and encouraging you to press into all He has for you through the pain. I pray for you as I read through your story. When Men Who Love Fierce Women was released, those requests increased and now it isn’t just women asking me for help; men are begging for answers from both of us.

For My Sisters Who Need to Be Loved

For My Sisters Who Need to Be Loved

(Guest Post by Molly Hilbert) From the first day this website went live, I’ve been privileged to have Molly serve as the Website Administrator. I actually first “met” Molly when she left a comment on one of my True Woman blog posts. That was back in the day when Molly was a single teen. Now, she’s married to her college sweetheart (both are graduates of Moody Bible College) and has experienced a bit more life and grown in her walk with God beyond those teen years. Molly is a young woman with a heart and passion for God and a willingness to serve others for His glory. For almost five years, Molly has poured herself into ministering to women and spreading God’s glory through serving you, the readers of this site. Every aspect of the technical operations of the website is taken care of by Molly. Week in and week out she loads the posts, she finds pictures to go with those posts, approves comments, she forwards emails to me when necessary, and she serves as a huge blessing and encouragement in my life! She also has life-lessons to share through her gift of writing. If you’ve followed the blog for very long, you know that I occasionally invite her to drop off a guest post on the blog, so today, you’ll be blessed to hear her share some personal moments with us . . . here is my dear friend, Molly ~
