The God Who Gets in the Gap With Us

The pink clouds on the horizon wake me this morning. Another day has started. Another day to praise God for mercies that are new and fresh for this day. Another day to cry out for wisdom in how to battle LeRoy's pain. I don't like to start the day this late. I need the early morning hours before daybreak to get my heart settled and prepared. Shortly after the sun rises, it's time to get breakfast going, meds laid out, and the washing machine running. The day is off and running and there's usually no time for pause until I lay my head back on the pillow for the night.

This will be the first time in twenty years that I’ve missed. All the way back to 1997, if Nancy was in Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas, Tennessee, or Little Rock, I was there. Back in the day, before the first True Woman Conference, before radio programs were recorded, or her books were written, Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth was calling women to: “Freedom, Fullness and Fruitfulness in Christ” through the ministry of Revive Our Hearts, in small conferences. Mostly I was there in the background giving prayer support.

Playing with Playdough and Capturing Hearts

The tears kept coming, I couldn’t help it. I was posted at the back of our church, ready to dim the lights when the video played, but also watching for stray little ones that could come in late and might need to be led to the platform. It was our closing program for VBS and my heart was full. As I watched the little ones sing, jump, shout, and praise the Lord, my heart felt it would burst with love and longing. I long for these little ones to follow Christ and live passionately for Him. I long for them to be truth speakers in their generation! As they sang, I prayed. “Father, capture their hearts for Your glory!”
