Are You Excited?

Are you excited about your book coming out?

I’ve had several friends ask me this question and I have to confess that excitement isn’t the word I’d use to describe what I’m feeling. Prayerful, humbled, amazed, grateful, yes . . . but excited really isn’t the emotion I’m experiencing. And I really don’t see this as my book. I see it as an assignment from the Father, filled with His story.

It’s been more than a year in process. And it required me to get in the gap with God. You know, it’s that place that’s in between His assignment for you and your abilities? That place that requires total dependence on Him to accomplish what He’s called you to? That place of uncommon communion with Him?

Yeah. That place. That’s where I’ve been since this whole thing started. And I’m still there.

I asked the Holy Spirit to be my writing instructor, to lead me, fill my mind with words, to construct sentences and paragraphs. The writing was saturated with prayer; it was a work of dependence and worship. My husband read every word, offering continual support and encouragement. We’ve often prayed together through this process specifically for those who’ll read this book—asking God to lead women who’ve given up hope in their marriages to pick it up, asking Him to reach their hearts as He did mine, to impact marriages as He did ours.

So when I’m asked if I’m excited about my book coming out . . . it almost seems I’m being asked the wrong question. I’m grateful for His grace through this process and I’m waiting for what He has in store. I’m prayerful and anticipating what He will do, that women’s lives may be touched, how He will weave this into His grand plan for reviving His church, how He will receive glory. That’s what I’m excited about.

Fierce Women: The Power of a Soft Warrior is a book in the True Woman line. It is available for pre-order now and will be released September 1. If you know a woman who is struggling in her marriage, or who just needs to understand how to use her strength to encourage her husband, please consider getting a copy of the book for her (or for yourself).

If you’d like a copy of Fierce Women, leave a comment below and three will be chosen to receive the book as a gift from Moody Publishers.

Will you join me in asking God to use this book to impact women’s lives?

I’m praying with you that God will use this book in many women’s lives. I’m also praying that it will be released in Spanish at some point . . . it would be a GREAT resource for Spanish-speaking women worldwide, but especially my friends in the church down in Uruguay.

I very much enjoy your blog. I’ve been married nearly 43 years, and I realize a wife doesn’t get too old to need encouragement and helpful instruction in being the wife God would have her to be. I would definitely appreciate receiving a gift copy of Fierce Women: The Power of a Soft Warrior. Praying this book will accomplish much good for those who read it.

I know that your message (God’s message! 🙂 ) is timely and true for us as women. Thank you for your surrender to God in your marriage. It is such an encouragement to those of us who are so “strong” in the world’s eyes. Your story about your early years of marriage sounds just like mine (I listened to it this morning on ROH). My husband and I have been together for 17 years now and I continue to struggle with surrender. Thank goodness God isn’t finished with me yet. I would love a copy of your book.
