This month I’ve been sharing with you my thoughts on becoming a beautifully Fierce Woman.
We’ve looked at several of her characteristics:
* Her identity and value are rooted in her relationship with Christ rather than a relationship with a man.
* She’s filled with gratitude for God’s good gifts. Her heart is ruled by the peace of contentment.
* She courageously faces her fears rather than running or hiding in shame.
* She’s passionate about things that matter rather than living for the trivial.
Maybe you’ve never been involved in a movement before, but one component of a beautiful fierce woman is:
* She’s willing to battle for a worthy cause rather than shrinking in defeat.
Today I’m gathering with thousands of women in Indianapolis for a monumental event. We are a movement of women who are battling for a worthy cause: God’s glory to be lived out in our womanhood.
I hope you’re in Indy with us as well. If you are, please say hello!
If you’ve never heard of the True Woman movement, let me share how I got involved.
In the late 1990s my friend, Nancy Leigh DeMoss, gave me two books that made a significant impact on my life. True Woman by Susan Hunt and The Feminist Gospel (later revised and entitled The Feminist Mistake) by Mary Kassian. I was amazed by what I read and it opened my eyes to how the feminist philosophy has permeated our culture and what a loss we’ve experienced as a result.
On a November evening in 2002, Nancy, Mary, Holly Elliff, and I sat talking late into the night about the need for a movement that would provide women with the knowledge and resources to counter feminism’s influence and set women free from lies they’d believed. The seeds for this movement had been in Nancy’s heart for years. She challenged us to dream with her. We went to prayer that night, asking God to birth a movement that would inspire women to live out their womanhood for God’s glory.
At that point, we had no idea what God was about to do!
A dream was realized when I attended the first True Woman Conference in 2008. I’ll never forget looking around at thousands of women, freely worshipping God together, embracing their calling as women, and thinking, He’s doing it, He is birthing this movement!
In the years since that first conference, we’ve seen thousands of women impacted, marriages restored, families recovered, and churches experiencing revival as a result of God’s movement in women’s lives.
If you’ve never attended a True Woman Conference, please go to the True Woman website and check out opportunities to get more involved in the movement or follow some of the links I have on the Home Page.
