1-Year Anniversary!!

Today marks exactly one year since this website launched. My gracious friends at Moody Publishers had a vision to put together this site as a place where women could connect, communicate, and share stories of God’s faithfulness. I view this spot as a community of women who are pressing into the Word together and encouraging one another in their pursuit of Christ.

Last week a dear friend left these precious words on a blog comment:

“When I read your stuff, I always walk away wanting to love Him more. Thank you for that, Kim.”

No more precious thing could anyone say to me about their experience on this blog than this.

The goal of every blog post is to ignite women with a greater passion to glorify God.

By God’s grace (and COMPLETELY His grace!) He’s supplied blog content every week, Monday through Friday, for the past year. Sometimes I wondered if it would even be possible to fill the site with a full year’s worth of content without a break, but He did it!

You may not follow this blog every day. In fact today may be your first visit here. I’m glad you stopped by and I hope you’ll settle in and stay awhile. Take a look around. We have some videos you might want to share with your friends here. We have some free resources here. We have some radio programs you might want to check out here.

To make it easy to connect here daily, you can subscribe so you can have the blogs sent to your inbox (see the Subscribe gadget on the upper left column).

Today, in light of this 1-year marker, I want to revisit and share with you this site’s first blog post. It really explains my heart and the reason behind my desire to write. If this site has encouraged you in your walk with Christ, would you leave a comment below? I think that would bless my friends at Moody Publishers, and also your comments are a powerful source of encouragement to me on days when I wonder if anyone is reading . . .

Fire in My Bones

The reason I write is that I have to. This driving impulse to communicate God’s reality and goodness to others is like a burning fire. Because of who He is, the desire for others to know and love Him consumes me. He is my passion and I don’t want to waste a moment but live all out for His glory—and I want others to join me in this pursuit. I long for the day when all will know that He alone is God.

I think it’s kind of like what the prophet Jeremiah said:

If I say, “I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name,” there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot (Jeremiah 20:9).

That burning fire is what I felt when I couldn’t keep quiet about Him, so I stood up in front of my fourth-grade-public-school class to tell them about Jesus dying on the cross, and why I hoped to spend my life as a missionary in Chad, Africa.

That same fire burns when I’m sitting beside a young woman who’s grappling with the purpose for her existence. Or when I’m counseling a woman who is ready to leave her husband. It’s the burning fire of God’s glory; the burning desire to let them know—

He’s God.
He’s alive.
He cares.
And He is at work.

Tasting God is so incredibly good, and His reality so intimate yet profound, that it is impossible to be silent about Him. I’m still amazed He would choose us to display His gospel, to be light in the darkness, to sound out truth in the cacophony.

I never planned to grow up and be a blogger. But I can see how it fits with the desire to spend my life in Chad, Africa. Writing blogs allows me to disciple more women than I would ever have opportunity to actually meet. In this small corner of the blogger world, women from across the globe can experience the adventure of growing together in Christ.

My purpose for this blog is to encourage women to live ALL out for God’s glory.

I hope this site will serve as iron sharpening iron as we encourage one another. I desire for this to be a community where He is exalted; where we can share stories of His transforming power. I want us to shout His Name and works here but also to sit quietly at His feet and learn from His Word.

His desire is to fill the earth with His glory and I’m inviting you to join me in this grand pursuit.

Is a fire burning in your bones?
Do you want to shout His goodness?
Please feel free to share His glorious works here.

Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and Amen! (Psalm 72:19)

“If this site has encouraged your walk with Christ”–YES!! This is the only blog I read EVERY DAY! I am so grateful for this blog because it is a way to connect when otherwise our paths don’t cross unless we make it happen. :). I am grateful for someone to pattern my life after– like Paul told the believers in one of his letters,”follow me as I follow Christ.” Living all out for His glory….what a purpose! I echo your friend last week in saying that I love Christ more as a result of knowing you and reading your blog. Glory to God for that; without Him, we are nothing, (John 15:5)
I pray that in this coming year more women will join us here! Love you, Kim!

Thanks Kim for all you do not just this blog, but the way you live your life! You don’t just speak it you live it! We see that fire that burns within you and it does make us want to love HIM more!
    Happy Anniversary! Love you!

    Hello Viv~

Thank you for being such a faithful encourager. You and I may be the only daily readers of this blog, but it inspires me to keep writing when I read comments like yours! I truly want women to love Jesus more after spending time here, if that happens with only one woman, that makes the time and effort worth it.

Thanks for stopping by. Love and prayers dear friend!

    Hi Kimberly,
I was pulling up your website to look into purchasing a copy of Fierce Women – The Power of A Soft Warrior. I have got some reading to catch up on! I would enjoy keeping up with your blog entries, so I will subscribe through the link at the upper left of this webpage. Beginning in August my husband and I will be entering a new season in our marriage, so I know that I will need all of the encouragement and positive direction that I can get. As of May, my husband graduated from Criswell Bible College after 5 years as a full-time undergrad student. The decision now lies ahead of him as to where he will pursue his MDiv studies and how God will use him to provide for us. Where we live and are involved with the Church follows this decision. Although we have had two miscarriages in the last 12 months, we yet hope that we might become parents next year. I appreciate your sharing through your video about how God worked in and through your and your husband Leroy’s marriage. I hope that you two are enjoying the season you are now in. The verse on my and my husband’s wedding invitation is a perfect reminder to us all of the purpose of our life and that even of our marriage is to be able to live out:
Psalm 34:3 “O Magnify The Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.”

    Hello Nicole ~

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and for introducing yourself. I’m so glad you’ll be joining us here on the blog! Did you order a copy of Fierce Women? If you’ve not ordered one yet, please let me know, I’d love to send you a gift copy 🙂

My husband and I were both students at Criswell (quite a few years ago!). It sounds like we may have a lot in common. I would encourage you to check out Southern Seminary while you’re seeking God’s direction on his next step.

Please stay in touch, I’d love to hear how God continues to direct your life in the good plans He has for you!

    God’s blessings, friend ~

    Hi Kim!

I have faithfully read your blog ever since we met last year at the Gospel Coalition’s Women conference, and I must say it has blessed me INCREDIBLY as well as all of the many women to which I have forwarded your messages. It also has been wonderful hearing you on Revive Our Hearts and Family Life the past few weeks. Thank you for sharing your heart for Christ and your testimony with all of us. My desire to seek God’s face and incline my heart to Him is strengthened and encouraged with each post I have read on your blog. I will continue to pray for you and hope to see you at another conference! I am contemplating coming up to Revive ’13 with my precious friend Jamie, but my newest little one, Bryant, will be 6 and 1/2 months and may be too wiggly!! 🙂 I will continue to pray about it, however, since I missed last year’s True Woman conference. 🙂 There is always 2014 and those dates have been reserved!!
Thank you again for all you do for the glory of God, and I hope you are getting lots of time with your newest little Granddaughter! I LOVED all that you shared about her birth story. She most certainly has a mighty calling on her life!

    In His Love,

  • Kimberly Wagner

    Hello Leanne!

So good to hear from you. Wow, I didn’t know you followed the blog, thank you for your encouraging words. Sometimes when several days passes and no one has left a comment, I feel like posting: Hello? Is anyone breathing out there? :)Thank you for taking the time to share and let me hear what is going on with you.

I hope you can bring that wiggly little one to Revive 13, it would be a joy to see you (and I’d love to hold him a bit!).

Thank you again for your precious note. Hope to see you again soon!

God’s blessings to you dear friend ~

Hi Kimberly, It has been amazing all that has happened since I replied to your blog dated July 9th 2013. Thank you for responding to my post. I first met you at a women’s retreat for First Baptist Church of Dallas that was held at a hotel in Rockwall, Texas. Nancy was our guest speaker. I think that was in April 2009 or was it 2010? I remember you telling me then of your and LeRoy’s connection to Criswell College. Thank you for your thoughtful suggestion to consider Southern Seminary. Last fall we visited Southwestern and Southeastern and I am excited to see where God is leading my husband to continue his education! After the two miscarriages I had told you about…we have finally been blessed with the birth of a son this past April! He is beautiful! Just this morning I came across your blog postings on miscarriages. I had not seen these before. Another common thread between us. Do you still have that gift copy of Fierce Women that you offered to me? I would like to receive that copy. With your autograph would be a delight! I am pretty sure that you can see my email address, so you can email me there to ask for my mailing address.
May you find yourself refreshed as you refresh others today! (Proverbs).

    Hello Nicole ~

Thank you so much for “re-introducing” yourself! Wow, I didn’t realize that connection. I am so thankful if the blog has ministered to you and glad you are staying connected here!

Actually, I mailed you a personally signed copy of “Fierce Women” last week, I thought you would’ve received it by now!! Please let me know if you don’t get it by Saturday, I need to check with the post office :/

And, by the way, I don’t see the email addresses or have any of the data info on the blog. The site administrator handles all of that (THANK YOU MOLLY!!), I only write the content and post comments. Molly actually loads the posts and pictures for me and screens all comments before she posts them live.

I am so excited God blessed you with a son!! Wow, what a gracious gift from the Father. You might find some of the posts on mothering helpful 🙂

Stay in touch and let me know where God leads you all to school . . . so exciting to follow where God leads!
