The Life-Giving Word

What do I need most when I’m overwhelmed with fear?

Heavy-hearted with grief?

Feeling lost and alone?

Interceding for a prodigal?

Confused in the throes of a decision?

Running from my responsibilities?

Drowning in the lies of the enemy?

Placing a call to an understanding friend can help (if she speaks God-truths clearly). A walk in the fresh air in the cool morning can lift my spirits. A good praise song can lighten the darkness.

But what I need most is to soak in the Life-Giving Word that is spirit-delivered to me:

[box]“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me.” (Psalm 138:7)[/box]

[box]“Yet God is my king from of old, Who works deeds of deliverance in the midst of the earth.” (Psalm 74:12)[/box]

[box]“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)[/box]

When I preach God’s message to myself in the midst of the pain, chaos, and confusion, His promises become a life-giving Word. His Word provides the safe place, the firm foundation, and the abiding comfort that only comes from sanctifying truth.

What truths are you preaching to yourself today?
