The Ultimate Deliverer

The Israelites were held captive, struggling in slavery, spent under the weight of cruel task masters . . . until their deliverer came. God’s chosen people served as Egypt’s slave labor for more than 400 years until He graciously sent Moses to lead them to freedom.

Moses was a “type” or Old Testament picture foreshadowing the One who would come to deliver His people from their sin. Moses served as a deliverer fourteen hundred years before the babe would be born in Bethlehem, the One who would bring the ultimate deliverance.

In mercy, God brings deliverance.

Are you held captive by an addiction that you’re enslaved to?

Do you seek out comfort through pills, the bottle, or cutting?

Are you addicted to pornography?

In mercy, God brings deliverance.

Isaiah prophesied the deliverance that God would bring by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, as our ultimate deliverer:

[box]I will appoint You as a covenant to the people,
As a light to the nations,

To open blind eyes,
To bring out prisoners from the dungeon
And those who dwell in darkness from the prison. (Isaiah 42:6–7)[/box]

As we celebrate Advent, we are celebrating the One sent for our deliverance. You do not have to remain in bondage. He has come to provide your freedom.

Will you turn to Him today? Will you allow Jesus to set you free?

He is your Ultimate Deliverer!

[box]The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed . . . (Luke 4:18)[/box]
