If I should die before I wake . . . I pray the Lord my soul to take . . . Isn’t that how the little child’s prayer goes? As death has once again brushed close and I pray for the loss of my friend’s loved ones. I’ve been thinking about what I want you to know . . . if I should die before I wake.
If I should die before I wake . . .
Know that my disposition is one of eternal gratitude. There is no place I’d rather be than in the actual living presence of my Savior. My heart belongs here and I’ve longed to breathe this air.
Remember that I often shared with you that I was looking forward to this day.
Take to heart my urging for you to live all out for God’s glory.
Let this day be a vivid reminder that your moments are passing quickly and intentionally apply yourself to what will matter for eternity. Redeem the time, enjoy fulfilling His earthly plan for you, love Him and others well, and freely share His gospel transformation with everyone you can.
Tell the little ones that will be born after I’m gone, how I prayed for them, how I asked God to raise up a new generation that would embrace the truth and follow Jesus with passion.
Don’t focus on me today, but keep sharing about the One I loved most and tell others why He meant so much to me. Let this be the overriding message of the day:
[box]Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness! (Psalm 115:1)[/box]
And someone please remember that I want this song played at my celebration service!
