Crying Out to God

This past weekend, more than seven thousand women, from all fifty states, and more than fifteen countries (I never heard the last count) joined in one place to cry out to God. We met in a convention center in mid America, but thousands from all across the globe joined our cry by simulcast. From remote parts of the earth, Universities, churches, and small gatherings in homes, women were crying out together asking God to move.

We need Him, we need a fresh vision of God. We need an outpouring of the Spirit.

The social media feeds are filled with rants from the “Christian voice” as the political debate gets heated. The headlines forecast a bleak and frightening future. The pundits provide us with waterless springs from hearts trained in greed. While the Church lifts anemic prayers—without urgency or concern.

The Church has grown self-satisfied and complacent—more a friend of the world than a distinct and holy people. We’ve exalted the celebrities and belittled God’s power. Oh, that we would learn from the book we profess to believe.

This is not new, it’s happened before.

We have become like those over whom you have never ruled, like those who are not called by Your name. Would that you would rend the heavens and come down and shake the mountains of pride, self-sufficiency, and greed. Would that you would awaken your Church and grant us grace for repentance (Isaiah 63:19–64:5).

Oh, that humility would cover us and brokenness would prepare the way for You to move among us!

The night is far spent, it is time for the Church to cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. It is time for us to walk worthy of the gospel we bear, that we might be a light to the nations.

Women across this nation, and the globe, are asking God:

  • To work in their lives in transforming ways
  • To use them to present the gospel to lost friends and family members
  • To change them in order for others to see Christ
  • To bring healing to divided communities and churches
  • To reconcile broken marriages
  • To reach our next generation

Crying out for God to answer these requests is right in line with what God desires to see accomplished!

Will you join us in these prayers?

Will you join our hearts in asking God to move within the Church at large to bring true revival?

This is my prayer:

[box]Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down,
That the mountains might quake at Your presence—

As fire kindles the brushwood, as fire causes water to boil—
To make Your name known to Your adversaries,
That the nations may tremble at Your presence!

When You did awesome things which we did not expect,
You came down, the mountains quaked at Your presence.

For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear,
Nor has the eye seen a God besides You,
Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him. (Isaiah 64:1–4)[/box]
